.:Queen of Spades:.

Queen of Spades is actually almost entirely compiled from two poems I had previously written. The verses are hardly modified from Delicate Day, the poem they first appeared in, while the bridge at the end is entirely unchanged from its appearance in Love. The only original words come in the chorus, which is my favourite part of the song which is otherwise made generic by its copy-and-paste creation.

i can't seem to slip into sleep
this sweater doesn't fit
and tonight im dreaming of you
without drifting away
im dreaming of a delicate day
when you and i have grown old
together

the sun sets and your silhouette fades
as the fire burns deep inside
you walk away, i watch you, my queen of spades
a golden dream melting before my eyes

fell out of this perfect dream
i don't want to wake up
why do i have to get off this train
when you're still riding it
through the clouds just under the heavens
and back to earth, my day has begun
alone.

the sun sets and your silhouette fades
as the fire burns deep inside
you walk away, i watch you, my queen of spades
a golden dream melting before my eyes

this isn't really happening
i'm not really hanging up the phone
i don't want this heavenly hour to fall
and yet its slipping away

I've held you in my arms
so completely blind
to the way you felt in my hands
and completely in awe
of the way you salvaged my heart
with your softest words,
most true and most beautiful,

and now i scream tears like rain from heaven
like rain from heaven
heaven
now i scream tears like rain from heaven

the sun sets and your silhouette fades
as the fire burns deep inside
you walk away, i watch you, my queen of spades
a golden dream melting before my eyes
