.:Empathy:.

This is the first song I ever wrote, and it's actually pretty impressive, considering that! I like the poetic first verse, though it's lacking a strong chorus. Maybe someday I will steal the opening lines and write an entirely new song from them, because in Empathy, they degenerate quickly into angry feelings directed at my first real ex-girlfriend. (yes, my first relationship didn't happen until the end of my grade 12 year).

We're more than five years older
than we were yesterday
When dreams crumble from shoulders
the greater they weigh
When time grows from memories
seeds planted in the rust
years bloom into centuries
and lives become dust

You're clinging to me now
You're holding me down
You let go of me once
Now I'm letting you drown

Your words once my salvation
are distant to me now
I swore your cold damnation
you'd figured me out

I'm forgetting you now
Hope you're throwing me out
To the old memories
Where is empathy now

When you last felt my touch
There were tears in your eyes
But soon time was too much
I couldn't realize

That I

Can't let go of you now
Can't tear myself out
I needed you once
And I'm needing you now
And I

Can't forget my love now
It's pouring right out
From my eyes from my mind
I feel empathy now

But it's too late
