Personal History:

Zahara Nadine Njie was born on October 14, 1993 to Delilia and Barake Njie in Homeland, Georgia. Zahara was their first child and they considered her a miracle. They had never expected a child, let alone one that was so perfect. Several years later, she was given a brother named Lucas. She was very close with Lucas, they had normal fights, but Zahara always looked out for him. Their parents made sure that they could go to private school, wanting them to have a good education. Though Delilia and Barake never were highly educated, they valued it for their children.

In June 2003, Delilia and Barake were killed in a robbery of a near by store while Zahara and Lucas were in school. With no one to take care of them, no next of kin, they were wards of the state and put into the foster system.

In December 2005, Zahara and Lucas were adopted by Ailis and Andrew Neylan. Since there were special circumstances with their adoptive parents, the adoption was expedited so that the children would be able to spend Christmas with their new parents.
