Matthew Patrick Orion was born to Paul and Astrid Orion, even though they wanted a girl, but they loved him just the same. Matthew was raised in the traditional Luna Foundation way. He was partnered with Chrislyn Star almost all of his life for all Luna Foundation events. He, like Chrislyn and the others received his doctorate around the age of 18.

Soon after he moved out to Colorado Springs to be closer to Chrislyn did he marry her. They had a daughter, Paris Kaydance Orion. When he thought that they were both lost and dead on another world he joined the Air Force not knowing what else to do. When Chrislyn was found, he returned and she urged him to continue his training knowing he'd be later stationed back in Colorado Springs at the SGC where he had been before. Completed OTS and returned to the SGC as an Air Force Officer with the rank of second lieutenant. Matthew was very stressed trying to keep his family together after Chrislyn was raped and found out that she was pregnant with Glenn Sharp from another reality's child. Matthew felt that the Genesis Project would put space between them and the Sharp family.

Though the Orions moved to Genesis, the Sharps later did, too... He didn't feel like he and Chrislyn were getting closer, more like Chrislyn was getting farther away. Though, his one joy in life was his little girl, Paris. Matthew was promoted to 1st Lieutenant, and although he didn't mind being military, it didn't fulfill any need...or make him feel like he was doing something extrodinary. After the Sharps left, it just made his wife more miserable. And then when they came back it still made it hard on the Orions. He suggested the idea of them going back to the Paris Luna Foundation House, and Chrislyn agreed. They left Genesis and got all the way to Earth and the SGC. He ended up going on with Mackayla and Dallas, but without Paris and Chrislyn as Oberon ended up sending them back to Earth.

Matthew left Dallas in Ireland, and proceeded on to France with Mackayla. His parents took care of his step-daughter, because he couldn't even stand her. She stood to him, as what had messed up their whole relationship and that it was Glenn's fault. His parents had taken perfect care of the child, while he had worked most of the time he was there. When Christopher and Danae Icye visited with their son, Devin, he had been informed that the two had divorced. It had also brought up his thoughts of what he thought of as a huge mistake, his marriage to Chrislyn. Although a religious person, he believed in divorce if necessary, and he was thinking that his marriage to Chrislyn was one of them. He ended up with Danae, and won his parents' cursing and threats for it. His family was behind his marriage and would not go against his wife in anyway. He let Chrislyn's cousin take Mackayla back to Genesis, while he stayed in France with Danae.

Weeks later, he returned to the SGC taking in a transfer to the SGC. This way, he could file for divorce and custody of Paris Kaydance. His little girl is his pride and joy and wants custody of them no matter what his family says. Currently living at his and Chrislyn's old home in Colorado Springs at 3728 Karis Way.
