Personal History:

Lucas Evan Njie was born on May 5, 1997 to Delilia and Barake Njie in Homeland, Georgia. Lucas was their second child and first son. Having two children had made Delilia and Barake feel like God had truly blessed them. Though he thought his sister was annoying, he was still close to her. Their parents made sure that they could go to private school, wanting them to have a good education. Though Delilia and Barake never were highly educated, they valued it for their children.

In June 2003, Delilia and Barake were killed in a robbery of a near by store while Zahara and Lucas were in school. With no one to take care of them, no next of kin, they were wards of the state and put into the foster system.

In December 2005, Zahara and Lucas were adopted by Ailis and Andrew Neylan. Since there were special circumstances with their adoptive parents, the adoption was expedited so that the children would be able to spend Christmas with their new parents.
