Personal History: |
Raised in Santa Cruz, California the oldest of four children. His father Thomas was a school teacher and his mother Cynthia was a librarian. His passion for dinosaurs developed into an interest in archeology. Drew graduated from UC Santa Cruz. Unsure which direction he wanted to follow, he spent a year on various digs, digging for dinosaur bones in Montana, a village in China and also one in Egypt. There he met Dr. Renee Bhaer and her daughter. During the dig he had long talks with Renee who shared her life’s work with him, some of the non-heiroglyphic glyphs she’d found. He also spent a great deal of time with her daughter Elle a shy 15 year old who taught him the history of Egypt. During a trip to Cairo for supplies, she guided him through the Cairo museum and the market. He saw it all through her eyes and it was facinating. He returned to America and completed a Masters in Archeology and Doctorate in Egyptology at UC Stanford. Drew joined a dig in Egypt and then the following year he led his first dig. He joined the faculty of UC Stanford as a professor. On his way to class one morning he saw Elle studying under a tree and reintroduced himself. After a brief courtship he proposed and they were married on the beach the following summer. He continued to teach, while Elle worked on her doctoral thesis. Two years later daughter Miriam Rebecca was born closely followed 12 months later by Andrew Michael Junior. Elle completed her doctoral thesis. Drew returned to Egypt to lead an archeological dig, while Elle and the kids remained in California. Then Elle published a paper suggesting that Daniel Jackson’s alien theory had merit. Drew returned to his teaching position at Stanford and daughter Ruth Imogene was born. Then 8 months ago, son Benjamin Joshua was born. Shortly afterward he and his family were offered positions as members of The Genesis Project.
