Father was an Air Force General, and when her mother died because she took a cab and got into an accident because Jacob didn't show in time Mark blamed him for her death. Mark blamed had always said that he loved the Air Force more than them. Sam later joined the Air Force in the hopes that she would be able to make it into the astronaut program, but then she was taken into the Stargate Program. Worked at the Pentagon on the Stargate Program, and made the dialing computer for the Stargate. Was assigned to the SGC on the second Abydos mission as second-in-command on SG-1. Was taken as a host to a Tok'ra, Jolinar, her second year in the SGC, but the Tok'ra later died saving her. Because of this she has naquadah in her blood and she is able to sense the presence of a symbotie and use Goa'uld technology. Her father, Jacob Carter, who was dying from cancer was given the choice to become a host for a Tok'ra and is a liaison. Since her father has become a Tok'ra they have been much closer and Sam seems to be the glue that keeps the Carter family together. She has also been taken over by an electronic entity. She was later given a promotion from Captain to Major. During her time at the SGC she has risked her life to save Earth and other races to defend against the Goa'uld. She later retired in July of 2002. Recently married her former CO, Jack O'Neill.
