The oldest of 12 children by two, Aidan Venture did not share his brother's zeal for watching over his younger siblings. From a very young age, it was clear that Aidan had inherited his parent's inclination to the sciences and excelled in school. He received a partial scholarship to Melbourne University and joined the Army in order to pay for the rest of the steep tuition bill.

Aidan didn't return home much during the following years and missed most of the family experiences that his twin, Josiah, had with the family. Though he grew up around small children, Aidan is not very good with them, and prefers to work with adults. Aidan turned out to be a very good military officer, though it wasn't his original intention for a career, and quickly climbed through the ranks of the Army.

Aidan and Josiah are not the best twins in the world. There remains a divide between them, for Josiah still believes that Aidan deserted the family in a way, and Aidan thinks that Josiah is missing the big picture and that he went out to fight for the entire country. Needless to say, they don't get along very well. It is not that they cannot stand to be in a room with one another, it's just that they prefer not to.
