Would you like to collaborate, or give some suggestions or ideas, for the realization of a multimedia product which lists all the known apparitions of the Mother of God, from the beginning of Christianity to Medjugorje, regardless of having been officially recognized or not by the Catholic Church? During the history of Christianity, and in particular in these two last centuries, after the apparitions of 1830 in Paris to Catherine Labouré (those of the Miraculous Medal) the Blessed Virgin Mary has descended on earth innumerable times to convert us, to advise us of the danger looming over us, and to help us in the difficult situations in which we continue to fall because of our disobedience to the divine commandments. Her epiphanies (in which the books of the most famous expert in the world, Father René Laurentin, are particularly illuminating) are fascinating, thought-provoking facts; yet, since they are not dogma, not an article of faith, people often have partial or distorted news about them. A work which gathers all the interventions of the Virgin Mary on earth up to the present day does not seem to exist (if you know of such a work, please inform me about it). In Italy there is a book, translated from German, entitled "All the apparitions of the Madonna in 2000 years of history", by two serious Austrian scholars, Hierzenberger and Nedomansky. Though worthy of praise, it is all but complete. Moreover, it is, and remains, a book, with all the limits of a book. What we need now is an honest work which, avoiding the two opposite errors (on one hand, the senseless credulity of those who are ready to believe anything; and, on the other hand, the aprioristic refusal of those who deny the supernatural without even deigning to gather precise information), lists in chronological order every known Marian apparition, and tries to propose a further theological explanation, or at least a closer examination. If this message in the bottle thrown into the web ocean will succeed, it will be possible to create a team of people interested in the subject, in order to gather from every part of the world all of the existing documentation - certainly enormous - on the Marian epiphanies of which a trace has been left. The new technology of the DVD-ROM, at the moment in which this web-site will be launched (May 1999) has not yet been established. But the preliminary task of the collecting of information for the preparation of this work will take at least a couple of years. Upon completion, the DVD-ROM, with its bigger memory, will have replaced the CD-ROM as out of date. It will therefore be possible to insert in abundance all the most beautiful Marian images available, without fearing to exceed the memory limits of the magnetic stand, presently quite narrow. From a missionary point of view (which is the one closer to my heart), I believe that a multimedia product which lists and describes with the greatest possible accuracy and completeness all the epiphanies of our heavenly Mother can be extremely useful to bring God close to all those who are far from Him. Quoting St. Louis Grignion de Montfort, "it is by means of the Blessed Virgin Mary that Jesus Christ came into the world, and it is also by means of her that He has to reign in the world." It is then sad to see "that the celestial Mary is, till now, unknown: this is one of the reasons why Jesus Christ is not known as He should be.If then, as it is certain, the knowledge and the kingdom of Jesus Christ must come into the world, they will be only a necessary consequence of the knowledge and the kingdom of the Most Holy Virgin, who gave birth to Jesus and will make His second coming full of splendor".
