Smokerings

If he wanted to stay she would make him a place
for she loves everything that he is,
and she'd willingly give all the world and all the stars
for his love - if only they were hers.
But she likes it alone, and in silence she knows,
if she wants, she can talk to the moon,
or hear voices at bars, or the children she loves,
and if wanting to go, she'll go soon.
Or to stay if she choose, for the night is still young,
but he's there, and she's wanting to say
all the words in her heart - but she's holding them back
and the night is much colder than day.
So she goes to someone who's not danger to ways
though she smiles, she is really not there
and she wants to forget, but she wants to live on,
if he stays or he goes, she will care.
And the one she is with sees the love in her eyes,
and he knows it's not his anyway
but the ones' who was late, and the one who will go,
and the one she will never let stay.
If she asks, and he stays, she'll go off the deep end,
and she knows he loves silence - as she;
and he stays for awhile, til the silence is deep,
and the end is the end that must be.
But he looks at the floor when she wants him to see,
and he goes when she wants him to stay,
but the words are not there, and she watches him go,
with the thought that it must be this way.
But she smiles in her heart - for she's known him at least,
and she's loved - and has found love is good,
and the end that she feared, she prevented in life,
though she wonders if she ever should.
Though the journey is long - she'll look back on her face,
and she'll think many times there it goes!
She will always regret; for it's always alive,
he is a part of her life, and she knows.
All the others who see- feel the same for their own,
and they wonder why she doesn't try,
but it's smokering they see; or a bird in their hand
that is wanting to fade in the sky.
And the sky will embrace everything in the end,
all the things that we see are a mask,
and the smokerings that fade to the will of the sky
are in love - and the sky didn't ask.
