On a Night Like Tonight
It's not very often that I get the urge to feel inspired and write something. So I'm taking advantage of tonight. I've talked to people today in all sorts of moods - happy, sad, confused, nervous, let down - and I thought about all of it as I laid outside tonight and looked up at the sky. With everything the world throws at us, there is never a moment when we should feel unloved or unlucky. Even if you know what I've been going through over the past few weeks, it's weird how you gain an entirely new outlook on things. Sometimes you just have to sit back and let yourself go. There is so much that we have to feel good about. Whether you failed a test, or your laptop died, or you hit some rough patches in a relationship - be it friendship, or romantic - it matters not, because in reality, they are only stepping stones. The world around us is such an awesome place to be. How lucky are we for things like the beautiful day we had today? Or the awesome night sky filled with stars tonight? Or the chance to take a walk and have a cool breeze blowing in our face? How lucky are we that we're always around at least one person who loves us? We're lucky because we have friends that care about us, families that love us, and people who believe in us. I, myself am personally thankful for those things. I'm lucky because people believe in second chances, they believe in trust, they believe in being there to pull you up if you're down, and not to let you fall if you're up. We're lucky to be surrounded by people with big hearts, people who take the risk to give themselves to someone they care about, and people who realize that mistakes and setbacks aren't necessarily irreversible. We're lucky because we live in a world where love of ourselves, others, and life conquers all. Things like fears, failed tests, broken computers, broken relationships, and hurt feelings can be overcome if we learn to believe that we're all unbelievably lucky for so many things we have in our lives. As long as we concentrate on that thought, and remember that there are people around us who think with their hearts and not with their heads, we will understand why we're here on this earth and why it's true that with all the people in this world, no one should ever have to feel alone. So the next time you think that it's not going to get better, step outside and look up at the skies and everything around you, and remember that you are an unbelievably lucky person. I know I am. Love you guys.
