Five Letter Word
It's a five letter word
If you lose it, you've lost.
Always consider your actions
And then weigh the cost.
For the thrill of a moment
You could hurt one you love
Is it worth it, this moment?
Or can you rise above?
If you've felt pain before
You question what's true
Though you love with all your heart
It all seems so new.
Scars from the past
They don't go away
Some dug in so deep
They always will stay.
The five letter word
You gave in the past
To someone who told you
That your love would last
And now here you stand
As they left in their car
Leaving you with someone new
Who will have to help with your scars.
You ask them to listen,
"I can't help it, there's pain.
Don't think I don't trust you -
It's the scars that remain.
In time you can help me
I want my five letter word back
So I can give it to you
To keep us on track.
Until then understand me
I'm trying my best
Take me one day at a time
And love will take care of the rest.
My five letter word
If we lose it, I'll bust
I want you to have it -
Here is my trust.
