| Remembering when... Linda Inspired Others From Lora Aleo- We met Linda and her family when we all moved to the neighborhood. The kids were still growing and Linda was very busy raising the them and looking after her animals. As I look back on the last 10 years knowing this wonderful family, some great times come to mind that I would like to share. A number of years ago Linda decided to castrate a very valuable stallion. I asked her why she did it and she replied, I want him to have a quality life. How unselfish and a truly loving horse owner she was. She really wanted what was best for each of her animals. Linda studied and learned quite a bit about every animal she cared for. John and I believe that she had more knowledge about animals than some Veterinarians. We called her Doctor Dean and many times called upon her knowledge to solve problems with our own animals. After Lindas first bout of chemo, we started riding bikes together to get in shape. We started out huffing and puffing after each short ride. It was pretty funny, but Linda decided that if we were going to do this, we were going to do it right! Linda led the bike trips and kept us peddling longer and longer each time out. Linda used to joke that if we kept at it, we too could fit into a Speedo biker uniform. Ha! Ha! (Her kind of humor.) One of our big rides was up to Rancho Manana. She made me push my bike up a mountain until my hands turned blue. She knew the terrain like the back of her hand. Linda kept us pushing forward right by an 8 foot rattler. We didnt stop for anything. Before we got home, she was setting a date for an even more challenging ride. I was still panting when we pulled in the driveway but Linda had not broken a sweat. She was determined that we were going to get into those Speedos. I will remember Linda: As a kind loving friend who strived to keep improving herself and to inspire others to do the same. As an ultimate caretaker of animals learning important knowledge to properly care for her pets and implementing her knowledge to keep them healthy. As a loving dedicated mother always putting her children and family first; never placing her children second to anything else. Linda was a loving generous friend that I spent many happy laughing moments with. Her company and friendship will be missed. We loved her dearly.
