| Six months ago, a grey tabby with a lot of personality entered our home and our hearts. We named him Charlie because....well, he just looked like a Charlie. We planned on making him a housecat, but he had other ideas. Charlie had just too much energy and curiousity to be cooped up in a house!
He made us laugh and drove us crazy with his antics. He'd race around the house for no apparent reason - just to burn up energy, I suppose. He perfected his sad meow to get what he wanted from us. He liked to sleep right next to people, pressed up against their leg or side. He was also an excellent hunter, bringing back birds and geckos regularly. He was friendly to newcomers and had quite a loud purr, too. We found Charlie lying at the side of the road in front of our house yesterday. We'll probably never know exactly what happened, but it seems certain he was struck by a car. We're still in shock, as you might guess. Even though it's hard now, we'll always be glad we had even the few months we had with Charlie. He was a great cat. It makes us happy to know that we gave him a good home with lots of love. Now, we'll be able to do that for some other cat who needs a family to adopt. - Bob and Doug April 12, 2006 |
