Differences of the North

Listed here you will find some of the things in The Inlet Of Iron Walls
that may be different from what was learned elsewhere. These things
are used in an effort by A/all of the Steading to move back to the books.
- In the Steading we have no servery nor do we have a chillery.
We have a kitchen accessed through a large archway or doorway so that
the Free may still enjoy the performance of serves. There is a small
cold room in the kitchen in lieu of a chillery. An ice shed is also
found behind the kitchen for larger items (side of bosk, extra casks,
etc.)
- Botas are used mainly for travel and within a permanent settlement
as is the Steading, would rarely be used for serving. Most beverages
will be found either in a cask or a bottle. Others may be found in pitchers
or a kettle.
- Foods and beverages are not tested for toxins in the Inlet.
This would cast doubt upon the Honor of the Steading with the thought
the food or drink may be poisoned. Should a slave be asked to test a
drink, she/he will go to the kitchen, retreive a separate vessel, return
to the Free to pour the drink into this vessel and taste.
- Kalana, by the books, is a red wine. There is no white kalana.
If asked to serve white kalana, please reply politely that the Inlet
does not have any white kalana but you can offer red or perhaps a Ta
wine.
- There are no silk distinctions among the slaves of the Steading.
If by chance a slave is referred to as "white silk" this simply
means she is a virgin. Alternately, a "red silk" is a slave
that has been opened for the use of Men, or no longer a virgin.
- Slaves will fall into one of two categories. In training her collar
will read {IW-T} since all new slaves (unless coming to the Inlet with
a new Member already in His/Her collar) are placed in a Inlet collar
and not a personal one. A personal collar may be given once the slave
is trained and accustomed to the ways of the Inlet. After training,
the slave will either be given to a Free or move into the {IW} ~bondmaid~ or {IW} thrall collar.
- Bond-maids will wear a kirtle, not silks, as is the way of Torvaldsland.
- Being of Torvaldsland, the Free do not honor the Priest Kings
but the old Gods of the Earth Vikings, such as Thor and Odin. Priest
Kings are generally much disliked by the Torvaldslanders.
- In following the scrolls, there is not first girl of the Steading.
However, there are trainers at the Inlet, girls who have extensive knowledge
in the ways of Gor, and will guide you in training. The trainers have
full discipline rights over the training slaves. This does not mean
a trainer will be abusive at any time, but she will hand out punishment
as she sees fit. The trainers are usually referred to as "mistress"
(lowercase m) by slaves in training. This will be used at the discretion
of the trainer on a case by case basis.
- Slaves will sleep in the Great Hall chained to a large log at
night to prevent them from being carried off to become the appetizer
for some Kur. Yes, it is possible for a Kur to break the heavy chains,
but such a racket would definitely arouse a few Warriors even from the
deepest of sleep.
