Simple Cross

This method expands the three rune method to give a better idea of how the situation came into being, the stage it has reached and why, as well as the likelihood of it resolving itself. As before, spread out your cloth over the chosen area and place all the runes face down on it. Swirl them around until they are thoroughly mixed, put to one side the fire you have chosen and replace the others in your pouch. Lay out the five runes in the order shown below.
  1. Past The first rune represents the past, what has led the querent to the current situation

  2. Present The second rune represents the present and should perhaps be turned over first.

  3. Result The third rune tells you what the result will be.

  4. Help The fourth rune indicates what help is available to the querent. It can significantly affect the outcome.

  5. Obstacles The fifth rune symbolizes any obstacles that may be confronting the querent. This rune should be turned over at the same time as the fourth rune.
It is important to look at runes 3,4 and 5 as a group. The outcome is not just waiting to be realized; if the querent understands the situation, sees clearly the obstacles ahead, and takes advantage of any aid available, then they can significantly alter the result.
