Heimdales Eight

This method of reading the runes is more complex than the previous ones. It gives a very detailed view of the querent’s current situation and what has brought them to this point. There are four result runes, giving a thorough grasp of the dynamics of the outcome. Obviously this type of rune cast should not be undertaken until you are fairly experienced as it needs knowledge and experience to practice effectively. Pick out 16 runes in the normal way, replacing the remainder in the pouch. Lay out the runes in their pairs as in the diagram. This is an excellent method to use when dealing with partnership issues because you can allocate the first rune of each pair to the querent and the second of the pair to the querent’s lover, business partner, etc.
  • 1 and 2 Strengths The first two runes indicate what strengths the querent has available and how they might be used to solve the problem.

  • 3 and 4 Symptoms Runes 3 and 4 show how the querent is coping with the situation physically, mentally and emotionally.

  • 5 and 6 Past Runes 5 and 6 relate to the past and the underlying reasons that have brought the querent to this point.

  • 7 and 8 Obstacles The next two runes show what obstacles lie in the querent's path.

  • 9 and 10 People Involved Runes 9 and 10 indicate the people involved in creating the obstacles

  • 11 and 12 Present Runes 11 and 12 show what is happening in the present.

  • 13 and 14 Future These runes represent the future.

  • 15 and 16 Outcome The final two runes focus on the likely outcome
