This type of rune cast is extremely old and widely used
by Tarot card readers to this day. There is one slight difference between
the rune cast and the Tarot spread: in a Tarot spread the second card
is laid across the first; with the runes it is simpler to lay the second
rune at right angles beneath the first. Although the runes are read in
a specific order, it is acceptable to lay them out in a clockwise order.
In other words the layout would be 1,2, 6, 3, 5, 4, 7, 8, 9, 10. This
is a matter of choice and experience.
- Present The first rune represents the current situation
- Obstacles The second, "crossing", rune indicates the problems that
present obstacles to resolution. Since this rune is horizontal it
is wise to treat it as reversed since it is representative of negative
trends.
- Past The third rune indicates what has led to the present situation.
- Future The fourth rune indicates what lies ahead.
- Ambitions The fifth rune represents the desires and ambitions of
the querent.
- Influences The sixth rune indicates what has influenced the situation.
- Internal Strengths The seventh rune denotes what the querent brings
to the situation
- Help The eighth rune indicates what others bring to it that can
be of any help.
- Hopes and Fears The ninth rune traditionally indicates the querent's
hopes and fears.
- Outcome The tenth rune symbolizes the likely outcome, although this
has to be considered in tandem with the fourth rune, which indicates
the future.
