| This rune has no markings at all. In some ways it may be considered
the joker of the pack because one never quite knows its meaning without
looking at the surrounding runes in the cast. The essential message of
Wyrd is one of immutable fate or karma. The querent is faced with an inescapable
situation and will have to take whatever comes – there is simply
no way out. This does not necessarily mean that what is about to be served
up will be unpleasant. The rewards for behavior, whether here or in the
next world, are by no means all bad. Wyrd’s blank face may also
signify things that we must keep secret in our lives so that we present
the same blank face to the world. The appearance of Wyrd in a rune cast does not presage doom but may in fact herald pleasant outcomes, depending on the context in which it appears. The surrounding runes point to the specific way in which things manifest themselves, and Wyrd states that it will happen; there is no argument and no escape. for example, if Wyrd appears next to a positive, financial rune then the querent can look forward to receiving money in the near future. If allied with a love rune then romance is certain to bloom shortly. If it is next to one of the more negative runes this can be a tough message for the querent to accept, but the inevitability of the situation has to be accepted. |
