| Lagu represents the hidden side of our nature. For thousands of years,
water has been regarded as one of the four elemental forces alongside
fire, earth and air. It is associated with the moon, which governs its
movements and which in turn is associated with the feminine or passive
and receptive principle. Thus, when Lagu appears in a rune cast, it implies
that the querent is either in a receptive frame of mind or that he or
she needs to turn off the chattering of the conscious mind and listen
to his or her inner voice – “intuition”. Some people might be defensive about the idea of being intuitive, and feel that the logical application of a rational approach is the way forward. Lagu says that this attitude only causes further difficulty. The querent would be advised to be flexible about problems at hand: if they flow with the tide rather than fight against it success is likely. Lagu signifies receptivity in all its forms so it can denote a perfect opportunity to “learn”. This could mean anything from an academic undertaking to seeking spiritual advice. Lagu may also denote that any obstructions that have been standing in the querent’s path will be washed away. When reversed, this rune invariably points to weakness and possible betrayal. In reversal the subconscious, or intuitive and receptive part of the mind, is turned upside-down, indicating that the querent has become mixed up and is about to get into real difficulty if firm and immediate action is not taken. It may be that the querent gives too much credibility to someone else or, more likely, that they give themselves an undeserved credibility. They may believe that they have great powers of intuition when they clearly do not. Or their intuition ay be subverted so they attempt things that they will not be able to carry off. |
