the noise-makers* 11/02

inner rhythms.
inner flames.

i've got lots of them.
enuff
to teach a tribe of nomads at night
where to find
the fire
and find each other.

inner sounds.
inner dancing.

as they all move and respond to me
like tides and tree branches,
i stir the soup counter-clockwise

'cause i feel    time lapses.

inner faith.
inner hope.

she
is the president of the woods
who jolts through the wind of imperialism
over the river
and through the woods to foggy thoughts
viathepenviatheword
  via the voice;

exposing myself, hoping you will respond,
and hope you will respond
;

who c
uts the flag prompting lip-service to worship,
lures the lost from the wax museum,
twists them out of their hibernation,
salutates their turn to poetry

and
reminds them of our collective voice;

who,
under the storm,
re-sews a new flag recognizing
the re-visionary and the prophetic
framework for
Love,
as performed by the

inner you.
inner me.

inner us.
*The italics are verses i compiled from the entire cast of Inner Rhythms'  "sounds of poetry" in fall of 2002 (Matt Austin, Rachel Bush, Whitney Crispell, Arthur Louissaint, and Marianne Upham), except those in lines 4 and 5 ("a tribe of nomads at night" and "the fire") are from IR graduate Pete Lombardi of '98 -'00 cast regarding IR.  "the noise-makers" was the title of the cast list/program distributed to every audience member.
