Scarecrow, part 3: the Cloud 11/02

desert: too hot to fight.

top of the hill,
   scarecrows on guard.
surrounding the hill,
   large skeletons with decaying flesh
show off razor-sharp teeth and claws.

former out-numbered by thousands.

"Stand firm!" yells a scarecrow,

"the Cloud is above us!"

charging for straw,
dirty bones close in.

"Hold strong!"

laughing and rumbling,
skeletons strive on heat.

"Hold!"

ratio: too deadly to blink.

"Hold!"

seven yards apart and swallowing.

          "
RE-JOICE!!!!!"

suddenly the scarecrows play all kinds
of instruments, known and unknown
throughout the world as some sing
loud in harmony:

"We Sing for Free-dom,
                    Sing for
Free-dom."

the skeletons invovoluntarilylyly shshake.

"La la laah,
                    La la laah."

bones explode into sand--
giant donut of flying dust!

"We Sing for all the Children, Sing for
all the Children, 'lala lala, la lah.
                              La la lah, lalaah'"

smoke clears.  music ends.
the skeletons have all vanished.

          silence.

again the Cloud quickly begins moving.
the scarecrows pack up and follow it

i      am all the scarecrows.

the Cloud      is my Rainbow.
