| Scarecrow, part 2: the Sun-shine 10/02 after they talked, scarecrow watched kid walk up narrow road towards horizon, in-between fields where scarecrows, of other shapes sizes colors, still hung on crosses waiting to give a new self direction. everyone faces kid beginning to yell at air: "......!!" scarecrow hops off his cross, sits on road. holding in his knees. rocking. telling himself, "boy just has to trust." kid now passed horizon yet louder than wind. "��!!!!" cold rain. heavy on scarecrow's shoulders. worms crawl out of dirt. join scarecrow. all wait for new sun-shine as soaking scarecrow sighs, "i told him, Lord. i told him, 'don't expect another human being to show you the rainbow.'" |
