About the Inkspot Society
The Inkspot Society exists to nurture creativity, inspiration, and freedom of expression for all who participate. Creative expression is a fundamental human instinct which often gets pushed aside in our busy world. Our goal is to provide a non-judgmental, open forum where creative people can meet, share and receive feed-back and encouragement so that - as our logo says - inspiration can bloom. We meet twice monthly and our group offers - Poetry Readings, The Book Nook, The Songwriter's Corner, to name just a few possibilities. We do not censor people's creative offerings. All genres and styles are welcome. Our one rule is that all participants respect one another's work and creative process.
The Inkspot Society is a non-profit organization. There are no membership fees or minimum requirements to join and everyone is welcome. Because there will be no censorship of content, we do request that minors provide both written and verbal permission from their parents.
Meeting Information
We will gather every other Sunday at 3:00 pm. Dates for early 2008 are: Feb. 17 and 24, March 9 and 23, April 6 and 20, May 4 and 18, June 1, 15 and 29, and July 13 and 27.
We have been dividing meetings into two segments. We start by sharing a creative homework assignment - one task which each of us approaches from our own creative perspective - and then we share our own work. Our favorite exercise is taking ten random words and creating a story from them. Here are some sample exercises. You can bring a poem or two of your own creation (or any poem, painting or artistic creation that inspires you) or you can simply listen and share your thoughts.
Location is 62 Fairview Avenue in Hancock, NY.

Directions: From Main Street, turn onto to Leonard Street (across from the drugstore). Go up the Leonard until you come to Fairview and turn left (the only way you can turn). 62 is a small green house opposite a large lawn.
Food and Beverage arrangements are left up to each individual. You can bring your own beverage and snacks and/or we can all chip in for dinner following the meeting. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited. No Smoking inside the house or during meetings.
Who We Are(Click here)
On the pages that follow, we will share a little bit about ourselves and our personal inspirations. As we grow, look to find more names and faces... maybe even your own...
