THE BARN
The barn was important when I was a kid
And lived down on the farm.
That's where a lot of life's problems were solved
Down around the barn.

Early in spring when the cupboard was low,
And the garden not started to bear,
We'd climb in the loft and crawl through the hay
For the eggs, we knew were hid there.

When old Bossie came up with a new baby calf
And we wondered where it came from,
Dad said she found it in the haystack
Right there by the side of the barn

The barn loft was always warm and dry
And many a rainy day,
We'd climb up there for hide and seek,
Among the bales of hay.

If we felt that our feelings were hurt
And our heart was breaking inside,
We'd go alone down to the barn
And find a place to cry.

And where did we unwillingly go
When a lesson we had to learn?
Yep! You're right, Dad tanned our hide
Right behind the barn.
