Isa
Deft he weaves among the numerous cars,
Hurtling onwards to our destination.
Across the road he darts, around the holes,
And passes cars with little hesitation.
Ye gads! That’s close! Oncoming cars look out,
For inches to pass is all this driver needs:
The night is dark before his lights come on.
And damn the road! Ahead at unsafe speeds!
A muddy river this dirt road's become;
A steely gaze reflects his steady nerve.
He plows on through despite the ebbing flows,
But two fishtails spring from untimely swerve.
An uneventful trip? Don't think we'll make it, do ya?
I'll settle for safely getting to Abuja!
