Carl's Internship

My name is Carl Darnell and I began my internship at
IBM-Rochester on May 19, 2003. The first day consisted of lots
of paperwork and orientation seminars. Because I am an Epic
Breakthrough Intern I took part in an additional seminar and met
up with other interns that were members of my particular program.
While attending the countless presentations and meetings I
encountered a number of new faces.

This Hand of Mine Glows With an Awesome Power, and It's Telling Me to Debug You, SHINING FINGER!!!!(this is how I look in the lab when I'm testing)

So far the intership as a whole has been very beneficial. As
a part of the Install Team in the Client Access department, I
have had the chance to be a part of numerous technical and
informal meetings, to conduct over 200 tests on developmental
software, and to learn a great deal about the life of a software
developer. My mentor, Wayne Lemens, my manager Beth Kosta, and
almost every person with an office within a 50 ft radius of my
computer have contributed to my experiences here so much. They
have taught me pertinent skills such as executing software tests,
deciphering testcases and acronyms (an interns worst nightmare),
debugging faulty codes, writing PTR's, and providing me with a
small taste of coding in Install Shield (a new
programming language mainly used for writing installation programs).
