The History/Future of Trace Elements

In the 19th century chemists began analyzing biological samples and noticed that there were specific elements essential to the growth of the organisms. After doing test they found that deficient amounts of these elements led to diseases and harmed individuals. They used purified diets with theses elements and tested animals and plants finding that the elements found were very vital to health. By continuously testing they eventually realized that trace elements are pure elements that are very vital to the body in small amounts. Since then scientists have continuously researched trace elements. They have found many more than originally thought and are finding more even now. They also have found ways of getting trace elements into food so that we can have more trace element enriched diets. The more trace elements are reasearched and the more we learn about them the more they can be used to help our bodies.
