It is a fact that Handloom and Handicraft weaving are traditionally practiced by the people in the North East. To exploit this existing situation favorably to the advantage of the people who have the basic skill and aptitude, Governments, both Central and States have been trying to organize and streamline the production of such Handicraft items and open up market avenues for their Products. With a view to making the efforts more effective and result oriented, the Government of India, Ministry of Textile came up with the idea of setting up Common Facility Centers (CFCs) in different parts of the North East. These CFCs would provide a forum for bringing the Artisans together for capacity building and training them in Skill upgradation, by exposure to new Technology and Design inputs using their local Raw Materials. |
