Blessings And Difficulties
by Roberta
This is a story of how my husband's ADD works out for good.
This last summer my ADHD husband and ADHD son went to visit our relatives in another country. During the trip, as usual, in transferring from one place to another, things were left behind and had to be mailed to the next destination since they were overlooked when packing suitcases. But this is to be expected with my husband.
When it was time to leave my mother's house and return here, my husband read the ticket as having an "am" departure instead of a "pm" departure. He and my son arrived at the airport 12 hours too early. I received a phone call from my confused, and very embarrassed husband. They were there 12 hours early with no money, and had to figure out what to do at the airport to kill time. After a few hours I got another phone call from my husband, who this time was quite excited about something. Since they were there so early they were the first in line and since the flight was over-booked they were asked if they would consider taking another flight in exchange for free round-trip tickets for both of them, good for one year. Of course they accepted. And everyone was happy.
One thing that I have found over and over with my husband is that even though our plans "supposedly" get messed up by his forgetting things, or being late, or some other aspect of his ADHD, it is very interesting to me how things always seem to work out anyway. Maybe we are late somewhere, only to find out that the thing started late for some reason anyway. Or since we are late, we meet an old friend on the way getting there - and would have missed such a chance meeting had we been on time. I can't think of specific examples right now, besides the airport story, but it happens very often in little ways, and always amazes me. It is like the Lord, in His mercy, is aware of my husbands problem and is working around it, and always provides blessings to counterbalance the difficulties.
