| MY PATH by Melissa |

| All my life, I was considered a slow learner who just never gave all my attention to a matter. My parents phrased it "you don't apply yourself" . I guess I was the day dreamer and just missed the drive to sit all day and listen. Well, now I am 24 years old, and life is just a bit different. I got up the courage to go to college and I am doing well so far. It has been all uphill and the hill steepened in December of '97. The words I never really knew anything about were spoken with my name added in. "Yes, Melissa has attention deficit disorder". I was tested and my doctor said I was just slow due to a learning disability. Back in the '70's, the doctors never used the words. I felt relief, panic. Well, I am on the Ritalin and I am not sure how it is going. I have been on it one complete month and life is still the same. Is there hope? Maybe, I can find my path in life - just like everyone else without a learning disablility! | |||
