JUST DIAGNOSED (AND HAPPY ABOUT IT!)
I am a 39 year old male with ADD. School was an embarrasing decade, where I had no way to show the teachers how smart I was except at "quiztime" where I gave the answers before the other kids had their arms raised--I'm still king of "trivial pursuits" wherever I go! I stumbled through menial job after menial job until realising the only thing I did well and enjoyed was singing and playing guitar which I did semi professionally from 1977-87 back in the UK before moving to the USA in 1987. I married in 1990 and immediately gave up playing to find a "real" career, which of course has not happened--I have done the following jobs since 1990. Housepainting, gift store manager, janitor, medical records clerk, bank teller, FM Radio disc jockey (cool job, bad wages!) sorter/clerk, copyshop clerk, kitchen installer, travelling salesman, and presently courier/delivery driver (in Boston--the worst traffic in the USA--trust me I've driven in 48 states!).

My poor wife is on the edge constantly, wondering when I'll "settle down" and choose a career!!!!!!!! Now having been diagnosed with ADD I finally have a handle on the chaos and cannot wait to get medicated! That sounds pretty wicked of me but humour is the best defense they say--all I know is my psychologist and psychiatrist reckon I'm a pretty bright guy who should do well after treatment--I'm praying they are right (and so is my wife) good luck to all of us.

Here's hoping, Doug ------------Boston
