This image, like many of my images, was created as a result of realizing that I had some interesting objects lying around.
I had created the chain links some time before and had been using them in a test of the inverse kinematics feature in Imagine.
The bullets were created accidentally while I toyed with Organica (a new organic modeler from the makers of Imagine). I saw I had a great bullet and decided to create the shell as well.
The lock was made after a poster on the Imagine Mailing List inquired as to the mechanics of making such an object. I set out to make the lock and found that, as a modeling task, it is quite a simple object (though this lock is not quite true to life -- I made it from memory).
Unfortunately, the colors being reflected by the lock don't match those of the environment -- the color map that I used has some rather inappropriate colors considering the environment that the lock is sitting in. Perhaps I'll render this again some day with something more appropriate.
