Programs I use with Imagine

Intro ...

Well, calling these things programs is a pretty big stretch. They're really windows batch files with more intelligent programming options (like if ... then and looping functionality, etc.)

I have created a number of scripts for performing some of the tasks that I find myself most often doing. However, I have to offer a warning:

While these may be useful, they aren't particularly fast (considering that they are an uncompiled script that has to be run through an interpreter at runtime). Additionally, due to their nature, you cannot multi-task when most of these scripts are running - they assume control of the system. This is due to the fact that the fashion in which they interface with Imagine is by sending Imagine its own commands via keyboard simulation, etc.

I use WinBatch from Wilson WindowWare. This is a very powerful windows scripter that allows you to control any windows program and to add custom menus to the system tray for each program on your computer.

Some of the utilities that I have created are:
Program Name Description
Project Organizer
Automatically creates a project diretory structure for easy orgranization of all Imagine related files for each project.More Information
HiRes/LowRes Objects Create a highly fractured & smoothed version of an object. These two scripts work in conjunction: Run HiRes first on a lowres object to see how it looks & then run LowRes to return to modelling the original object. (Inspired by Alex Chouls' modeling methods).More Information
Point Randomizer
Randomly change the position of all points on your object or only a specific subgroup in any axis. I have used this for creating cool landscapes in Imagine and subtly modifying the surface of an object More Information
Extrude
Extrude your object to any axis, not limited to the Y-axis, as in Imagine.More Information
Replicate Straight
Replicate an object a user specified number of times and get individual objects rather than Imagine's single object.More Information
Replicate Spiral
Replicate an object an object a user specified number of times, a over user specified distance and number of degrees. This results in a spiral of objects that are individual, not a single object as Imagine creates. More Information
