The murder trial of Lindsay's former law professor  concludes. As the trial begins, the prosecution surprises Bobby and Lindsay with an unlikely strategic move that forces the defense into a risky, and possibly dangerous, position.

Berluti defends his cousin, who is charged with wrongful termination by an Iranian woman; Bobby aids a woman who claims she was forced into a polygamous relationship; Ellenor and Eugene uncover information that could help murder suspect George Vogelman.

The staff members are stunned when they are sued for defamation - and $30 million - by a man Eugene accused in court of decapitation.

Accessory-to-murder charges are brought against a newsmagazine producer for suggesting that a physician videotape himself administering a lethal injection to a terminally ill woman.

 

#48 Of Human Bondage (Feb 7, 1999)

Bobby defends a 16-year-old prostitute accused of stabbing a man to death; Ellenor represents the first client she ever defended against charges of drug possession; and Berluti reluctantly takes a divorce case.

 

#49 Lawyers, Reporters and Cockroaches (Feb 21, 1999)

Bobby and Lindsay represent a restaurant owner who's suing a local television station for airing a story that accused the eatery of having unsanitary conditions; Helen prosecutes a young man for intentionally killing a neighbor's cat.

 

#50 End Games (Feb 28, 1999)

Ellenor is arrested for possession of heroin after a client, running from the police, bursts into the office and tosses the illegal substance to her. During a search of Ellenor's desk, the police discover something else - a large carving knife with dried blood on it. Meanwhile, Judge Kittleson hires Bobby to defend her against a sexual-harassment charge filed by a former law clerk.

 

#51 Target Practice (Mar 7, 1999)

Grieving parents sue a gun manufacturer for negligence after their daughter is murdered by a robber using an assault weapon; Eugene's son is charged with drug possession with intent to distribute, after several bags of marijuana are discovered in his school locker.

 

#52 Crossfire (Mar 14, 1999)

Eugene's ex-wife seeks sole custody of Kendall because she feels Eugene's job is a negative influence on the boy; Rebecca represents a psychologist who was fired due to an injury that caused his eyes to become severely crossed.

 

#53 Closet Justice (Mar 28, 1999)

Judge Hiller appoints the firm, against staffers' wishes, to represent a man suspected of viciously murdering a nun and stuffing her remains in a closet; Jimmy and Rebecca defend a client arrested for soliciting sex from an undercover cop.

 

#54 Home Invasions (Apr 18, 1999)

A young man testifies at a preliminary hearing that he witnessed his father murder his mother, but then he recants his testimony during the trial, leaving Helen in dire straits. Meanwhile, Jimmy accidentally discovers a nude video of Lucy on the Internet.
