| I have spent a large portion of my life having no idea what I believed, and I still am not sure completely. For awhile I denouced God, and claimed agnosticism, mostly because I think it was the thing to do. Hell, all my friends were doing it, why shouldn't I? Today, I think I claim a different perspective. I grew up being taught Christianity, so if you asked me I would of course say I believed in God, and maybe I believed that. Excluding day camp in the summer, I never attended church as a child, and I still don't. I probably never will. If there is one thing I do know, I am definitely anti organized religion, I see it as this huge brainwashing excursion, just one more thing to teach people not to think for themselves. Now for what I do believe: I believe in a higher power, a "god" so to say. I believe that there is someone, higher than mortal humans, who plays a role in our fate, in our destiny. I do not believe this is the Christian god, or necessarily any current religious icon. I think it is just a presence that gives people hope, peace, and a sense of happiness. I think that in life you only need to make one religious decision. You need to try to be the best person you can, and treat other people like you would want to be treated. If you do that, it should not matter who in the end turns out to be the almighty. That is my opinions on religion, and because I don't really care all that much about religion I will stop wasting your time and mine. |
