Something dangerous happened to me today. I started to contemplate the existence of God. So the idea struck me, why not create a place where we, the people, can give our inputs as to our views/feelings/beliefs regarding the existence of God. This section is meant to be a non-objective, open forum in which we can feel free to lay down our thoughts on the matter at hand. So please feel free to contribute, and don't let the topic of God slow you down. If you don't wish to talk about God, then talk about something else. Anything. Questions you may want answered, your thoughts on various matters, whatever. You can talk about how much you love pink bunny rabbits if you so desire. I only have one request. As I will be "hosting" this on my Geocities account (probably only temporarily), anyone wanting to contribute to the cause will have to e-mail me what they want posted. As a result, I do not want Word documents or Claris documents or any other kinds of attachments. Unless I explicitly know the person from which the attachment is from, I delete the e-mail before opening it. So if you want your voice to be heard, just write it up in Word or Claris or whatever (for spell-checking/grammar), then copy/paste it into an e-mail. I will convert the e-mail to HTML (if necessary) and post it on the site, unedited and unbastardized. Since I won't be editing the message, please be sure to spell-check and make everything legible. Others will be reading, so it's best to let them understand what you're trying to say.
Those of you willing to participate can send your topic here, and I will post it, no matter what. If you're wanting to reply to a topic that has been previously posted, or give your two cents on the matter, send it to me, and I will post it in a manner that will indicate it is a rebuttal/reply to the original comment. Here are the things I require from you in order to properly post your comment:
- your name (or anonymous if desired)
- the title of your post
- your website (if applicable)
- indicate if your post is a reply, and if so, to which post is it replying
Please put "disussion forum" as the subject-line to your e-mail, otherwise I might delete it (I get a lot of junk mail). If you don't tell me you want to be anonymous, your name will automatically get included.
Like I said, if you send me something, I will post it, no matter what. However, how long it stays posted is up to you. Here are some ways you can ensure that I won't delete your post.
- Don't bash/flame/ridicule/make fun of other people and/or their opinions. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and you have no right to tell them they're wrong in a demeaning way. If they are wrong, and you can prove it, then by all means do so, but in a civilized manner that respects not only the person you are retorting against, but also anyone who is reading your post.
- Keep the profanities to a moderate level; don't swear every second word. I realize that swearing can be a great "tool" to assist you in making your point. I don't mind if you swear. For me to disallow swearing would be incredibly hypocritical, as anyone who has ever read my Rants or [Freak] Shows can attest to. So if you feel that it is necessary to swear to make your point more clear, go right ahead. I just don't want to read something where every other word resembles fire truck.
I would like this to be something that is not made by me. I want it to be result of many different people with many different view points coming together to create something that we can all enjoy. Therefore, I would encourage you to either e-mail or post any suggestions you may have about how to run/upkeep the forum. If I have to start a forum on some other server because no one feels comfortable sending me their ideas, so be it. I can do that. I want this to be an interactive thing, not something that I run and you merely contribute small portions to.
