in Neutral with engine running |

- Input shaft bearing worn.
- Damaged main drive gear bearing.
- Worn countershaft bearings.
- Worn or damaged countershaft endplay shims.

Noisy in all gears
|

- Any of the abouve causes, and/or:
- Insufficient lubricant.
|

3.
Noisy in one particular gear
|
|
- Worn, damaged or chipped gear teeth for that
particular gear.
- Worn or damaged synchronizer for that particular
gear.
|

|
| 4. Slips
out of high gear |
|
- Transaxle loose on clutch housing.
- Shift rods interfering with engine mounts or
clutch lever.
- Shift rods not working freely.
- Damaged mainshaft pilot bearing.
- Dirt behind transaxle case and engine or
misalignment of transaxle.
- Worn or improperly adjusted linkage.

| 5.
Difficulty in engaging gears |
|
- Clutch not releasing completely.
- Loose, damaged or out of adjustment shift linkage.
Make a thorough inspection, replacing parts as
necessary.

| 6. Oil
leakage |
|
- Excessive amount of lubricant in transaxle.
- Driveaxle oil seal leaking.
- Speedometer oil seal in need of replacement.
