Yeah, what do you want?
A man steps out from the shadows and just inside enough to get out of the freezing rain. It's Josh.
Have you been cooped up in here this entire time?
I took a flight straight home from last week's, and I've been in town. Why?
Did you even know you had a match this week?
No, no one called me...except Mandy..who I am trying to avoid. You know women can be just bitches most of the time.
I'm sure that's why you lost. Your personal problems and your in-ring work do not mix.
I know that's why I lost. My head was focused on something else, and not what it should be, the comeback. So my one chance to make an impact was ruined. I've been trying to get ahold of you with the match you're supposed to have this week.
I ripped the phone out of the wall, people I didn't like were calling. If it had been you I'm sorry, I started ignoring all calls when she wouldn't leave me alone. She's threaning a law suit but I don't see how she could get anything out of me. She's at fault. The court would throw the case out. But I imagine she'll try anyway. It's not my kid, she's not my wife anymore and it's not my problem.
That's pretty cold though.
What do you expect? She's just about ruined my life before, and now she's trying again.
Joe sits down in his recliner and takes a big gulp of the glass of wine he has with him.
She's a pathetic bitch and deserves everything that she gets. And that kid deserves better which is why I'm not going to help her keep custody of it. I told her that.
Well anyway, that's why you lost. Your mind wasn't in the right place. What do we do to get you on the right track?
We'll start with you telling me what my match is.
Josh turns on his camera while he pulls the card out, to get some thoughts from Joe to send out to the MWA audience.
Well you have one for Battlezone, then on Thursday you have one for Turmoil.
Let's worry about Turmoil later.
Okay. You are teaming with your new partner, Heather Shannon against "Wrecker" Mike Proctor and Joram Carnage.
Good, we'll see how the Joe Cool/Heather the Feather team does in our first match. I think this partnership will work. Not only that but I can prove to Proctor that his win was mainly ring rust on my part. I mean, look, I don't put on a good match in my debut and lose. Then I win a tag match, and MJ Martell BARELY gets the win on me. Had she not slipped out of the Solitiare Unraveling it would have been over. Proctor is probably thinking, gee, I'll get an easy match again, but that's not the case. Joe Cool has more to prove this time. I've worked out my ring rust, and this time, The Wrecker is going to be the one staring at the lights while the referee counts to three. Well, if you can get your hands on him. The Feather is looking for some payback.
As well she should. Although, only a complete idiot would use a chocolate cake for a weapon. And wow, he can attack someone from behind after they just were in a hard fought match. Big man. It's people like him that give our business a bad name, do you know that?
Well, you've done some bad things in your time.
Yeah, before I matured. Then I realized I don't have to be a total prick to everyone in order to gain respect. That's not going to get you respect to begin with. I don't like Proctor, and I don't respect him. Hell I'm sure Heather is hating him right now. Here's an idea Josh, let's go after some girl because she's got a weight problem. That's his big idea? Not to go after a title, or someone who could provide strong competition, but go after a girl because she doesn't fit the standard model for what society says people should be like. Proctor sickens me.
What about the other guy?
Joram Carnage? Well besides the fact I've never heard of anyone with the name Joram before, he looks to be just another big guy. 7'0", 300 pounds. At least I can lift him up for the Solitaire Unraveling. I wasn't too sure when I fought Heather if I could get her up for it, which is why I went after Terri Moore and made her tap out. And I'm sure there will be a big power contest if Heather gets in there with him. Either way someone on their team is getting pinned or made to tap out. It's going to be easy.
Got anything else to say before I turn this off?
Yeah, I have one thing. Joram Carnage, Mike Proctor, I don't know one of you and the other is a tool. Either way my comeback is off to a rocky start and I'm not about to let it go any further downhill. Carnage, you're not going to stop me, and Proctor, that first time was a fluke. This time will be different. You'll be the one to lose. But hey, I'm not telling you anything that you don't already know.
Josh turns off the camera and suddenly Joe jumps up.
Shit I almost forgot.
What?
I've got to fly to Lubbock to meet with my tag partner. I promised her backstage on Monday. I'm going to be late but I think I can get there.
Joe rushes to get some things together and get out the door as the scene fades out abruptly.
