| Do You Think Marijuana Should Be Legalized and Do You Think It's Addictive? I believe that cannabis is dangerous. I believe that it can be addictive to those with addictive personalities in much the same way as shopping, computer games or tattoos can be addictive. I have seen the damage that it can do to the minds of those who use it excessively, affecting their minds and memories. However, despite this I also feel that there should be more medical trials of cannabis and cannabis based products for medical purposes in particular as an aid to arthritis and MS sufferers, and that if it is proven to be effective that it should be legalised for such uses. It is a fact that the majority of pain drugs are either not strong enough or through side effects prevent many sufferers from leading full lives, and I believe that anything that could provide real relief to those who daily suffer from extreme pain should be tested and released as a prescription drug. I accept that cannabis does have side effects but I also believe that testing and processing may reduce these whilst still making it an effective treatment. I feel that it is unfair for people with real needs to be branded criminals for medical use of this substance, or to be unable to use it because they fear breaking the law. There are a great deal of people who could potentially gain relief through this drug but will not try it until it is legalised and will continue to suffer until that day. I do not believe in the legalisation of cannabis for general consumption, as I believe that used without supervision the drug can do a great deal of damage- as can any drug or pharmaceutical product if used irresponsibly. Cannabis is just as dangerous as alcohol and cigarettes and can potentially do just as much damage, how ever it is a drug that also has the potential to do a great deal of good and this is why I support the legalisation of cannabis for medical purposes only. -Phantoms Siren I definately think that pot is addictive. I've seem quite a few friends that can't stand to be without it. Whether it's actually psycially addictive or whether it's jusr psycological, I have no idea. As for legalization.. why not? Everyone I know has no problem getting it, illegal or not. It would take something away from drug dealers. and maybe keep a little money put of the hands of trafficers. (sp?) Personally, I don't think it's any worse than ciggarets ot alcahol. -lanthe99 I firmly, rapidly, rapantly believe that weed is emotionally/psychologically addictive, but not physically. So yeah. And I don't see how cigarettes can be legal and weed not. So legalize it, baby. -blackcatpandora personally i'd never do it even if it was legal, but i mean what's the point of it being illegal? people are gonna do it anyway, and it's no worse for you than cigarrettes because they give you and everyone around you cancer and such, and pot can have some good things like medical benefits and such, and my friend was saying it would minimize the amount of drug related crimes and such and yeah... -LeFleurDuCoeur I'd never heard valid and logical reason why weed should be illegal. -oxtheswitchbladefairyxo This is a subject which I am really torn about. On one hand I can say that what people do with their own bodies doesn't effect others (or does it?) so if they want to smoke it then they should be allowed. If they did legalize it, then it would cut down on many drug related crimes, but a LOT more people are going to start using it. |
