Hope you all had happy holidays! Now that it's January (blech!), it's time to catch up on some of the news to warm your heart and help fill those long winter hours.

Mini Movie Review: National Treasure 2

Suspend your disbelief and sit back and enjoy the ride! Ok, so the history is a bit murky and the plot is a bit thin, but you'll be sitting on the edge of your seat for this second installment of the National Treasure franchise. All the key players are back. Riley Poole (Justin Bartha)  is still a hoot and still gets some of the best lines. Helen Mirren is terrific as Ben Gates' mother. Ben (Nicholas Cage) and company are out to solve a secret related to (a) the assignation of Lincoln and (b) the City of Lost Gold. Yeah. OK. It seems to make more sense when you are watching it. And when you get home and start thinking about the plot holes large enough to drive a 747 through, you won't care. I saw it twice and I loved it both times. Great for the whole family. PG; 124 minutes.

New Year's Resolution

So, it's 2008 and no one should go to bed hungry. To that end, here's a nifty little site where you can help feed the world--10 grains of rice at a time. The site is called Free Rice and everytime you answer a vocabulary word correctly, you earn 20 grains of rice (paid for by the advertising sponsors on the site). In just a couple minutes you can earn a thousand grains of rice. The words adjust in difficulty as you improve. It's fun. It's addictive. It will help out someone in need. It takes 7,200 grains of rice to equal a cup. Just play.
