November 21, 2006: Happy Thanksgiving!
I'd like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. Whatever you are doing this Thursday (and with whomever you are doing it!), I hope you take a moment to reflect on the joy in your life this last year.
For myself, these would include:
Family--Take 9 people and a dog, throw them together in a too small house with a turkey that will probably take too long to cook, and have them come out liking each other at the end anyway. Yep. That's love.
Health--Sure, I could lose a pound or two (or twenty) and I have an ache or two that I didn't seem to have five years ago, but all things considered, I think it could be worse.
Friends--Who else would run around a hotel looking for a photo of Oscar with you? Who else would listen to you complain (again!) about your husband being out of town or your kid not doing his/her homework or the lost trumpets (fortunately found) or . . .? Who else can make you giggle until you pee?
Love--Love comes in all shapes and sizes--from the licks and snuggles I get from my pup, to the boy hugs I'm getting from my son, to the "I Love You, Mom" email I got from my daughter, to the long walks with my husband, to the laugh-filled chats with my friends.
Yep. I'm lucky; I'm overflowing with blessings this Thanksgiving. I hope the blessings are overflowing at your house too.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU AND YOURS!
