| News- September 5, 2005 - Again another year has passed since the website has been updated. I need to stop making a habit of making updates only once a year. A lot of new faces this year...most notably Noogie the star player from the great LA teams, Ariya a former Indonesian Pro Basketball Player, and Agust star player from the Seattle Team. SF I still features the great trio of Doni, Khalid, and Ryan led by Coach John Susanto. Unfortunately there hasn't been too many Indonesian Tournaments this year and there was no annual Pormisab Tournament. Team San Francisco has joined a local basketball league here in the bay area to work on our Team Chemistry. SF I also participated in the IFGF tournament this past weekend where they swept through pool play 3-0. The playoffs for this tournament will be played next weekend September 10. I look forward to a great finish for 2005 with goals to win the championship of the local basketball league and IFGF tournament. Hopefully there will be more Indonesian Tournaments by the end of this year. October 29, 2004 - A year has passed since the website has been updated. Team San Francisco participated in a few tournaments. They won some, but also lost some. The losses were at very competitive tournaments down in Southern California. Due to the far distances, Team San Francisco was not able to bring their full squad to those tournaments. They were still able to claim third place in both the Cal Poly Open and Fresno Cup. The Northerm California Tournaments were another matter. With a full squad, Team San Francisco was able to sweep through the Northern California Tounaments to add to their championship list. Team San Francisco's roster featured their biggest team yet with at least five players over six feet tall. Mike, William Raharja, Nate, Macmillan, and Gema Thahar provided Team San Francisco with size and intimidation, while Doni, Ryan, Khalid, Bobby, Furia, and Hendra balanced the team with their ball handling skills and shooting. Team San Francisco was able to claim three more championships. September 21, 2003- Over the summer, Team San Francisco joined an open league with the best ballers in the city. Often overmatched with size, Team San Francisco used teamwork and smart play to win the League. Being one of the top seeds, Team San Francisco received a bye in the quarterfinals. They easily won the semi-final game behind the three point shots of Doni. The championship game was a classic. Team San Francisco was overmatched inside with the other team featuring a 6'4 300 pound player who was an all city high school player. Team San Francisco with the addition of Ryan in the championship game used its quickness to counter the other teams size. Team San Francisco was down the majority of the game by a deficit of at least 10 points. They came back in the final minutes behind the drives of Chuck, outside shot of Doni, and all around game of Ryan. The game was tied in regulation with the other team having the ball. Team San Francisco made a key stop and had 3 seconds on the clock. Ryan's shot bounced off the rim sending the game into overtime. In overtime, Chuck and Doni were battling cramps but the rest of the team kept the game close. With ten seconds left and down by one point, Team San Francisco inbounded the ball to Doni. Doni passes the ball to Ryan in the post. Ryan gets doubled team and dishes the ball to an open Ivan. Ivan sends the ball in the air and hits the winning shot at the buzzer. Nothing but net...Team San Francisco wins the championship by one point. September 21, 2003 - For Indonesian Independence Day, Team San Francisco hosted a basketball tournament. The tournament would feature some of the best Indonesian Teams and players. Among the teams were Pleasant Hill, S.F. I, L.A. Knights, and L.A. II. Pleasant Hill featured Joe S., one of the most athletic players. L.A. Knights had the biggest and most imposing lineup and also featured one of the top Indonesian players in Thomas Kurniady. L.A. II the reigning Pormisab champions had an athletic lineup with Noogie and Mike. S.F. I featured a balanced and deep team. Day 1 - Day one showcased some of the upcoming talent. The four mentioned teams faced no problems in the first day and easily advanced to round two. The highlight of the day was the matchup between Pleasant Hill and LA Knights. This game would featured the matchup of Joe and Thomas the two most athletic players in the tournament who showcased their dunking skills during warmups. Pleasant Hill got ahead quick behind the high flying act of Joe and never looked back. Day 2 - Pleasant Hill and SF I were placed in the same pool. SF I used a variety of players to slow down Joe from Pleasant Hill to win the game. LA II battle from behind down by a lot to defeat LA Knights. The third place game was Pleasant Hill against LA Knights. Some great and1 moves were showcased during this game...LA knights came out on top to win third place. The Championship game would feature two run and gun teams in SF I and LA II. The fans were not disappointed as this game was one of the higher scoring games ever. The game was up and down most of the game with a lot of three pointers and fast break, but at the end it was SF I that came out victorious. |
