Other assorted pictures:
South Whitley - Right of Way
This February 10, 2003 shows several remnants of the former rail line.
First, the path of the right of way can be seen crossing State Road 205, then dissapearing into the trees, near the centre of the picture. Second, the power pole in the centre of the picture is actually the original telegraph pole for the line. Third, the cement block in the foreground is a pedestal that perhaps could have supported a signal pole.

Columbia City - Norfolk Southern Railroad Crossing at Grade
The ERVRR's former right of way is visible in the snow, to the right of the power pole. Here, it extends southeast from the NS railway line and Columbia City. Pictured February 10, 2003.

Columbia City - Remaining Buildings
In the centre of this February 10, 2003 photo, taken at the foot of Elm St., looking east towards Line St., are some of the facilities that the ERVRR used to serve, including a grain silo. The mound extending from the right shows where the ERVRR's right of way was.

Columbia City - Main Street "Leftovers"
The location surrounding where the ERVRR crossed Main St. in Columbia City has been built over since the railway's abandonnment. However, shown in this February 10, 2003 photo, there still remains two consecutive telegraph poles and, surprisingly, an original relay box (to the left of the nearest pole), on the east side of Main St. opposite Spencer St.  Photo by Joseph Chemerys.
Columbia City - Madison Street Crossing Area
As is typical with most abandonned rail lines that crossed roads, the remnants of the line can be seen with steep hills that level off abruptly, as seen here on Madison St., looking north from Ellsworth St. in Columbia City, February 10, 2003. The buildings in the centre and right of the photo are part of a lumber mill, that was once served by the ERVRR. The mill is still in operation today.  Photo by Joseph Chemerys.
ERVRR Relics
It's not only sections of the right of way that are relics of the former ERVRR line. In a number of locations there are still stacks of used railway ties, spikes and such, left behind from past roadbed work. This pile of used materials were photographed just off the right of way, southeast of the NS rail line, Columbia City, February 10, 2003.
