The Eternal Fount of Spirituality must flow again !
Since the beginnings of human civilization, mystic masters, prophets, saints, and avathaars all over the world were in touch with the cosmic holy undercurrent of spiritual wisdom which the ancient Vedas symbolically named as the Sarasvathi.
They periodically dived into the spiritual bosom of this Holy Mother of knowledge and wisdom at selected centres of human habitation, which soon came to be known as thirthasthaanas of the earth.
They raised up and arranged to maintain perennial founts of refreshing spiritual thought and experience, suited to indigenous requirements whether it was in China, India, Gandhaaradesha, Persia, Turkey, Crete, Greece, Egypt, various parts of the Middle East or even Africa or South America.
Many Greek and Chinese mystic philosophers like Socrates, Plato, Confucius, many Vedic rishis of India, many tirthankaras of the Jina tradition, many Buddhist adepts of Tibet, India and Ceylon, many Zen masters of the Far East, many siddhas, aalwaars and naayanmaars of South India, many later mystics and adepts of the Middle east such as Shams Tarbiz, Farid, Rumi, Hafiz, Rabia of Iraq, Yunus of Turkey, later yogis, siddhas,bhakthas, saints and and sufis of mediaeval India such as the Navanathas, Baabaaji of the Himalayas, Sarmad, Surdas, Kabirdas, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu,Guru Nanak, Santh Gyaneshwar (the brother of Nivriittinath , Samartha Ramdas, SanthTukaram, recent masters such as Sri Ramakrishna, Akalkot Maharaj, Dayananda Saraswathi, Inayath Khan, Aurobindo, Nityananda of Vajreshwari, Nisargadatta Maharaaj of a Bombay slum, Hazrath Babajan of Poona, Sai Baba of Shirdi, Upaasani Maharaj, Naaraayan Maharaaj, Taajjuddin Baba, Kazak of Kashmir, Ramana Maharshi, and many other masters of India , in addition to many known and unknown spiritual masters in various parts of the world, established such spirititual fountains or tirthasthaanas in their areas of the world at different times in different places diving into this holy undercurrent of universal spirituality.
The Perennial Nature of Cosmic Spirituality
This divine undercurrent of all sources of wisdom, Mother Mahaarasvathi, the Mother of spiritual aspirants which initiates the spiritual evolution of man, continues to flow secretly supporting all living and evolving cultures of the world, as a common matrix, providing spiritual knowledge, wisdom and inspiration, to the precursors of saints, prophets, poets, preachers from time to time.
This Perennial Source of Spirituality has been one and the same all along and therefore all the products of its periodical upsurges in different places at different times continue to exist among us in the form of various spiritual and religious traditions and throb together as pearls strung on a single thread of mystic silk, breathing synergistically and harmoniously with one other and seeking spiritual union with one another on a single spiritual platform.
The inheritors and custodians of these individual spiritual and religious traditions, therefore, should never forget this basic eternal reality that supports the very existence of their individual traditions because it is this power that lies behind the spiritual evolution of man and preserves and supports spiritual evolution in all nations at all times.
The Multidimentional prophetic manthras of the Vedas
Sri Aurobindo, a rishi of modern times, declared that the manthras in the Vedas each have not less than seven meanings in all that attended to the various stages of evolution of the human spirit from the lowest physical to the highest spiritual !
The Vedas preceded the Jewish prophets and later prophetic savants such as Nostradamus, giving overall prophesies for the world in many dimensions which only the Rishis with their multidimensional pratibha covering all reaches of time and space could offer to humanity.
When the Rig Veda prophesized the disappearance of the ancient river Sarasvathi, they hid at least two meanings in the prophesy.
A historical meaning was that, the future would witness the disappearance of their holy river Sarasvathi in Bharatavarsha.
The mystic meaning was that the perennial stream of cosmic spirituality, Mahaasarasvathi, would get hidden from view for some time.
Both the aspects of this prophesy came to pass as thousands of years elapsed.
But we must remember this as a temporary phenomenon in universal time.
For, a cosmopolitan vedic spirituality will soon be re-born on this planet.
A corroboration for this will come about in the future when movements under the earth, south of the Himalayas, will aid the river Sarasvathi to show herself again in a new form in the north of India.
Our faithful anthropologists, mythologists, historians, archaeologists, geologists, seismologists along with many scientists of advanced interdisciplinary sciences are now tracing the path of this ancient river and the ancient civilization and spiritual culture that was nourished by it.
Their future work in interpreting their scientific findings will give an impetus to the upsurge of spirituality among the present and future generations.
It will not be long when our scientists will find that it will not be impossible to raise the hidden waters of the holy river and help it to gush forth towards the plains of India.
It will also not be long before the inheritors of our stagnant spiritual traditions discover that no retardant force on earth can prevent the secret source of ancient cosmopolitan spirituality of the world, the Mahaasarasvathi, from rising again, enveloping India's spiritual landscape, and provide an ideal practising ground for true spirituality.
The Mahasarasvathi Will Rise Again
Whenever and wherever this spiritual current temporarily dries up, as it happened symbolically to the Sarasvathi river of the Indian north, some thousand years ago, spiritual evolution in the area stagnates, gets isolated from the main body of evolving spirituality, until some great soul, amidst this group of people thirsting for spiritually, appears in the land, as Guru Nanak arose in the Punjab, and lifts up a stream of life-giving waters from this perennial undercurrent of spirituality giving spiritual solace to thirsty seekers of spiritual wisdom and sets the ball of spiritual evolution rolling again in the land.
The coming of an Avathaara
When a cataclysm occurs threatening the very existence and dynamic activity of this spiritual flow, the Five Masters pray to the Ultimate Reality for cosmic help and the Avataar is born to set things right.
Today the world as a whole is facing such a predicament .
Under such a condition, to fulfil the dire need of spiritual seekers all over the world, the Avathaar of the Age has come whose work and mission has universal appeal unconfined to geographical, national, political or economic boundaries that separate man from man.
"One World" of the Vedas
For the Vedic seers and prophets the world is one single family.
All human beings are their progeny.
It would not have been found strange by the rishis if the the Ramavatara had occured in Egypt or the Krishnavathara in Plaestine.
Their concepts of geography such as Jambudwipa, Bhaarathavarsha, Bharathakhanda and Shwetha Dwipa for example, lie beyond our narrow approaches to the past.
Virochana the father of Bali could be Virochaka, the ancestor of the Incas of South America whose descendents could have migrated to Indonesia.
Undiscovered India
Many problems of anthropology, mythology, archaeology and prehistoruy have to be solved before we can understand the secrets the Vedic prophets have conveyed to us.
Many discoveries that are being made by impartial scientists in modern times will help us, along with our preserved mythologies and those of other countries to piece together th jigsaw puzzle that lies before us.
Humility, insight,intuition, understanding, co-operation, faith, love, sustained work and confidence is what the younger generation needs to wipe off the cobwebs accumulated in the past, chalk out a programme in the New Era for the revival of true spirituality in the present and put the world of humanity on a sure path of spiritual advancement that will guarantee for human civilization secure and progressive spiritual development.
The task before Young India
When the time comes," The mouths of babes will prophesy", says the Bible.
Men and women of the young generation have now a great opportunity to prove themselves that they can give a big hand to God to change the world and let this symbol of our ancient cosmopolitan spiritual culture rise and water the hearts and minds of all men and women with new vigour and vitality.
If the new generation growing in India can make up their minds and rise up to this momentous occasion provided by providence, India will lead a new spiritual revolution that will engulf the world !
