Durga the Spouse of God
The Power that arouses the Kundalini
sarva chaithanya roopaam thaam

There is always mystic Light hidden within material darkness, just as you find light at the end of a tunnel or a silver lining in the cloud.
This Light, that emancipates man, is Durga the Terrible, also known by many other names and taking many forms in the imagination of holy poets.
She is the Power of Holistic Consiousness, behind the evolution of man.
She is the Power that provides man with Gestalt Consicousness or Pratibhaa.
She is the Power that, in the words of the Upanishad, enables the wise to "know That by which everything is known !"
She is the universal "I" who immolates Herself at the altar of the Supreme !
She is the Spouse of God.
She merges in Him in a Great Sacrifice, the sacrifice of the universal ego.
Every year, during the nine days of Navarathri, She can be felt, by yogis, as the most powerful and infuential power acting on the human mind and purifying it.
During Navarathri, She acts powerfully on the "Bhrukuti" ( Ajna Chakra: the 6th chakra), also known as the Third Eye of Shiva.
She activates, from above, the Kundalini power, lying dormant in the Mulaadhara (the 1st chakra) below and arouses it.
Meditating on Her, during Navarathri, will sanctify us and lead to progress in spiritual saadhana.
During Navarathri, the best form of meditation, is maintaining Perfect Silence (not allowing the mind to stray).
A highly relaxed, attentive, receptive and prayerful attitude towards Divine Grace is the secret of success in this spiritual endeavour.
Rest and solitude with light fasting ( only satvik food) helps the process.
On must remain "sarvabhootha hite rathah", filled with love for all beings, to obtain Her Grace.
