Cory Ballinger- Instructor / Group Leader

Mr. Ballinger started his journey in martial arts in 1986 in American
Karate-do up until 1991 under Mr. Tim Armstrong   also during this same
period Mr. Ballinger was introduced to the Filipino martial art of Kali,
under Guru Bruce Ogle head of the Indiana Kali/Silat Academy.

He continued his growth in Filipino Martial Arts after ending his Karate training in 1991.
During the next six years Mr. Ballinger began training on his own and attending seminars in various styles, trying to build his martial arts background.  In 1998 Mr. Ballinger re-affiliated with his past instructor, Bruce Ogle, in the Filipino Martial Arts.

In 1998 Mr. Ballinger joined a Chung Do Kwan TaeKwon-Do
school assisting the Kwanjanim (head instructor)  and sharing his knowledge of Kali to the TaeKwon-Do students. He was then  honored w/ a 2nd Dan Black Belt under Mr. Ralph White of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

In 1999 Mr. Ballinger was introduced by Guru Kim Satterfield to the Filipino fighting methods of Sarahan Eskrima Kapatiran (Sarahan is the Tagalog word for the verb "to close") and he currently continues to train with Guru Kim Satterfield in this exciting blend 4 four eskrima styles, Larga Mano,Serrada, De Cuerdas, and Sinawali.

Mr. Ballinger has also began his study under Instructor AL McKluckie in the
Unique Russian Martial Art called the system or "systema" to widen his
martial arts background.

Since Oct 2002,  Sensei Ballinger has combined with Renshi Carl Jackson of
Jackson's Karate Institute in Muncie, Ind.  With intentions of gaining more
knowledge and progressing thru the ranks trying to understand the Karate
system in which he started with under Mr. Tim Armstrong.  Sensei Ballinger
was promoted to 3rd Dan under Renshi Jackson in Dec, 2002.    In return he
has obligated himself to Renshi Jackson and his students, to pass on the
Filipino Martial Arts and Jeet Kune Do Concepts to students wishing to
advance their skill's and knowledge in martial arts.

Also during this same time Sensei Ballinger has joined with Sensei Jay Dotson
a 4th dan black belt in American Karate/TKD and is a Muncie Police Officer
and Defensive Tactics Instructor for Law Enforcement.  The two have been
helping one another out sharing ideas and working together in the field of
applying FMA in with the DT training for LEO's.  Mr. Dotson also teaches TKD
at the Local YMCA that Sensei Ballinger Assists from time to time.

" My goal is to gain all the knowledge I can in the aspects and field of
martial arts regardless of style and system.  I know that each and every
system has something to learn from.  I want to better myself by learning all
these aspects.  So as I pass things on to others I feel more comfortable in
the field of Self Defense and as a martial artist as a whole.  I think it is
very important to have a basic working idea of what works and what does not
work in the street, rather than in the dojo.  Working closely with Law
Enforcement officials who use tactics on a daily basis and in my line of work
in corrections as a correctional officer I know what I can rely on and what I
can not.  Martial arts is far more than learning a few good moves and being
able to take a person or people out also.  We have to devote ourself with
time and understanding the principles, the history and the aspect of what is
so Martial about Martial arts.  I do not endulge in the egotistical or
erogant side of martial arts as to who has the most time in or higher
grade/rank so to speak.  My goal in martial arts is to learn, and continue to
learn more, I do not get caught up with rank or with titles, however I do
understand in today's society its hard to gain any respect in this field if
you do not.  With my 17yrs of martial arts experience and talent I still
desire to learn and go beyond my elements to try to do so. "

Mr. Ballinger has no Instructor's certification or degree in any particular
system other than Taekwon-do and Karate, however with the knowledge of the Filipino
martial arts and his varied background, he shares his thoughts, methods, and styles of these systems as adapted to Jeet Kune Do.

Mr. Ballinger considers himself a lifetime student in Martial Arts and is
willing to share his learning and to teachto others in the East Central
Indiana area.  His goal is to help perserve the martial arts Jeet Kune Do and the Filipino Martial Arts as they are slowly dying out in this area.

Jeremy C. Bays - Instructor / Group Leader

Mr. Bays started his martial arts journey in Bakersfield California at the early age of 8 years old.  After much begging, his parents enrolled him in an American Kenpo Karate school.  Jeremy spent the next 2 years at the school learning all he could about this fascinating martial art.  Even at such a young age, Mr. Bays refused to take rank in the school.  He believed that the color of belt you tie around your uniform does not represent your dedication or skill level.

His family moved from Bakersfield, California to Fresno, California.  There Jeremy trained in Shotokan Karate for a total of three years.  Once again, He refused rank in Shotokan due largely to a personal belief that hard work is the best rank of them all.

Several years passed and Mr. Bays trained with various groups and instructors.  He learned much from videos, books, and seminars.  Then he meet his current Taekwon-do instructor, Larry Delaney.  Mr. Delaney showed Jeremy how to train harder, faster, and more serious then ever before.  He also convinced Mr. Bays to test for the rank of Shodan (1st Degree Black Belt) in Taekwon-do.  Jeremy took the test and passed.  Mr. Bays says "I only took the belt so that others will understand that I have the knowledge and will to teach".

Mr. Bays trained with Larry Delaney and Donnie Robertson for 5 years.  He earned his ranking in Chun Do Kwan TaeKwon-do and Chinese Kenpo-jitsu (Mitose linage).

Jeremy Bays currently is training in the Filipino Martial Arts under his co-instructor Cory Ballinger.  He is also training in Jeet Kune Do under Gary Hoyd who is the state representive of Combative Solutions in Indiana.  "The day they lay me down in the grave, will be the day I stop training," said Mr. Bays.
