The 11th Indiana Schedule: Salem,
IN
9/20-21 Hartford, City
10/10 Columbus Indiana Update As a result of our efforts at Columbus, Indiana this year, the 11th received a monetary contribution of $50 for participating in Friday and Saturday’s event. The amount was only half of what we were expecting. The organizers said that since the event was rained out Saturday we would only receive money for Friday. Unfortunately the members of our unit who showed up Saturday did not even realize the event had been cancelled that day. Salem, Indiana Preparation is being made for our first camp of instruction. Hopefully, everyone got the information about the location and the schedule of events. If not please call me at (317) 232-2566. If anyone knows of |
someone who is interested in reenacting they may attend even though they do not have all their equipment. Throughout the weekend we will have the public involved in our drills and they may even end up marching in our ranks. Meals will be on your own and the camps are open starting Friday afternoon. The Company street will be set per regulations. We will be observed at all times by the public so we must make a concerted effort to hide any and all anachronisms. 11th Indiana’s Historical Display The 11th Indiana will have its living history display at Salem, Indiana and also at Hartford City this year. Several new items have been acquired. 11th Treasury Principal:
$50 Upcoming Events The 11th Indiana will participate in the Education days at |
Hartford City Friday, October10, 2003. The event starts promptly at 9:00am. We are expecting 3,500 kids this year so it should be a good time. The event is Friday only with a reenactment to follow Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, October 25, 2003 @ 8:00am the SUVCW Ben Harrison Camp #356 will hold a formal recognition ceremony for all those who worked so diligently on the Camp Morton Boundary Markers. The ceremony will be held at the Camp Morton Shelter rain or shine. The SVR has been asked to provide a color guard. Parking will be available on the street. Following the ceremony the members will move to the Camp Morton Civil War show to be held at the Indiana State Fairgrounds at the corner of 38th and Fall Creek. Web Page Tim Beckman is currently helping us expand our 11th web site. This should be a great recruiting tool for us. |
