The Mexican Gray wolf was hunted. Ranchers killed off these wolves for no apparent reason. By the 1920s, the wolf was almost extinct from the wesern area of the United States. This unique species of wolves are the smallest, and the most endangered species of the North American gray wolf. The Mexican gray wolf ranges its habitat from central Mexico, to wetern Texas, southern New Mexico, and central Arizona.
