| Prime Minister issued Commemorative Coins of Rs 100 & Rs 5 on 151st Anniv of Lokmanya Balgangadhar Tilak. Coins were issued on 23 Jul 07. Initially the coins were released with inscription 'Tilak Ji'. Although the word Ji denotes respect, this was objected to by some persons. This was due to the fact that Ji has not been used on coins /stamps of other dignitaries like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru or Indira Gandhi. Due to this the coins with word Ji were recalled and fresh coins were issued without Ji. |
